Adverticum AdServer technology

Hardware: our server-park comprises 11 Intel Xeon and AMD Opteron-based HP servers. There are currently 10 front-end servers. A hardware load balancer ensures high level availability (>99.8%) and failover capability. The architecture allows for a flexible sliding scale and can be expanded with additional servers at any time should demand increase. The administrative and statistical pages are supplied by a dedicated server. A high capacity, multiprocessor database-server and further log-processing servers operate on the backend side. Our servers are located in the T-Online data-park.

Software: The system is Linux-based and uses both in-house developed and free software. The front-end side is served by an in-house developed Apache webserver module combined with a high capacity fileserver. The multilingual administrative and statistical pages can only be reached via SSL encryption and are PHP-based. The database server is PostgreSQL. The system’s operations are overseen by a multilayered monitoring system, but the software architecture also contains failsafe solutions capable of preventing crashes due to numerous hardware or network errors, and data loss.
